Michigan Association of Student Financial Services Administrators

Hello MASFSA Colleagues-

It is my honor to be your 2024-2025 Michigan Association of Student Financial Services Administrators (MASFSA) President.  My name is Karmen Grondin and I have worked at Central Michigan University for 32 years and as Collections Manager for the last 14 years. I have served MASFSA in several executive board positions and have been on multiple committees over the past 10 years.  What I enjoy most about being a member of MASFSA is networking, sharing knowledge and connecting with other student financial services Administrators as well as obtaining resources from vendors who have supported me along the way.  I’ve made many new valuable professional relationships and friendships and it’s wonderful to be part of an organization that is committed to helping us and our students achieve success.

The 2025 MASFSA conference will be hosted in Mount Pleasant, MI at the Courtyard by Marriott on May 19 -21, 2025.  It is a beautiful space that is located right next to CMU’s football stadium. After receiving many suggestions from our members, the conference will be held Monday through Wednesday.  No more missing out on ball games, golf outings or Sunday family time!  We also recognize the extra travel time for our vendors on their journey to Michigan.  It is our hope that with this change we will see an increase in institutions and participants in attendance.  Our primary goal is to increase our MASFSA membership by reaching out to higher education institutions to introduce our organization and share the many inspiring benefits MASFSA offers.

MASFSA has created a new Webinar Committee which will be led by Jessica Vaglica from Aquinas College.  Jessica has held the title of IT and Conference Logistics for several years, she is a prior MASFSA President and haheld several positions on the board.  Jessica will do an amazing job leading the new Webinar Committee.  Collectively, we would like to connect with our members more frequently by hosting quarterly webinars.  The first webinar will be in September, stay tuned for more information on the date and topic.  The webinars will be available for MASFSA members as well as all Michigan higher education financial services Administrators.  By introducing them to MASFSA, we hope this will create a positive and encouraging environment to build and grow MASFSA membership.

MASFSA has many valuable resources available to its members starting with a wide variety of conference session topics to the endless opportunities in networking.  MASFSA welcomes members to volunteer on committees and serve on the executive board. I look forward to seeing you on our webinars and at the conference in May.  Who knows, you may just gain some lifelong friends along the way!
