DAVE WEINANDY, Ph.D.


David Weinandy is a Professor of Communication at Aquinas College. As well, for five years, Dr. Weinandy oversaw the Campus Life area at the College. David has been awarded The Outstanding Faculty Member (three times) by the Aquinas College Student Senate and Alumni Association. He was also acknowledged with Aquinas College’s Distinguished Service Award. A memorable moment was when David’s former students initiated and funded an endowed Aquinas College Leadership Scholarship in his name. Prior to teaching, David worked in Student Affairs at Bowling Green and Kent State Universities. Additionally, David received the Bowling Green State University Outstanding Alumni Service Award.

Dr. Weinandy has earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Counseling, a Master of Arts in College Student Personnel, and a Ph.D. in Interpersonal Communication. David's expertise in the communication discipline include: group communication, public speaking, and interpersonal relationship development.

Dr. Weinandy is an in-demand consultant, speaker, and trainer conducting hundreds of seminars and workshops on such topics as listening skill development, creating a positive attitude, customer service, conflict management, public presentation, and successful interpersonal relationships. The Michigan Hospice and Palliative Care Association named Dr. Weinandy the Educator of the Year.

David serves as a personal communication coach for high-profile individuals, including industry leaders, on-air talent, and several state titleholders who went on to become Miss America or Ms. Wheelchair America. David has been very involved in the West Michigan community as a volunteer and board member for numerous organizations including Community Circle Theatre, where he received the Norma Brink Service Award, the Bowling Green State University Alumni Association, Spectrum/Corewell Health, The Grand Rapids Ballet, The Van Andel Institute Purple Community, Lake Michigan Academy, Lake Michigan Credit Union, and the Ms. Wheelchair America, Miss Michigan and Miss Michigan Outstanding Teen Scholarship Programs.
